Mixed numbers (1½, 2¾, 3⅓) are the bridge between fractions and decimals in Year 5–6. The cut-and-paste format slows students down enough to actually think about what "one whole and a bit" looks like visually, rather than just reading the symbols off and moving on.

Anchor the symbol-to-quantity link

Independent station
