How to use this in the classroom

Fraction Racers blends a racing game with fraction-question rounds. Players race AI opponents around a track; answering fraction questions correctly boosts their kart's speed. Wrong answers slow you down. Covers equivalent fractions, comparing, mixed numbers, and basic operations.

Mixed-topic revision

Unlike Fracman (equivalence only), Fraction Racers covers multiple fraction sub-topics. Ideal for end-of-unit revision when you want to consolidate everything taught across a fractions block.

Competitive race day

Run a class-wide tournament β€” students compete head-to-head at one device, or take turns racing the AI. The racing wrap engages students who don't normally enjoy maths.

Diagnostic for spread of skills

The mixed-question format reveals which fraction sub-topic each student is weakest on β€” students who consistently slow down on mixed-number questions specifically need targeted catch-up on conversion.

What it builds

Cross-topic fraction fluency. Most fraction games focus on one skill (equivalence, comparing, etc.); Fraction Racers requires students to switch between skills mid-race. That switching cost is exactly what students fail at on standardised tests β€” this game trains the transition.
