How to play
- Every round, everyone starts standing with a total of 0.
- The teacher rolls one die. A 2 to 6 is added to the total of everyone still standing.
- Bank at any time to sit down and keep your total.
- A 1 ends the round. Anyone still standing gets nothing for it.
- Highest banked total after the last round wins.
The maths on the board
The chance of a 1 is one in six on every roll, however long the run. One more roll gives five chances in six of about four more points and one in six of losing the lot, so the expected change is 3.3 minus a sixth of what you are standing on. It turns negative at 20, which is why the host screen says when the odds now say sit, and shows what the class actually did.
