Years 4 to 8 ยท Mental maths ยท Order of operations ยท Factors
The 24 card game as a class race. Four numbers go up on the board. Everyone combines them on their own screen with + โ ร รท, each number once, to make 24. The fastest correct answer scores most, and after every round the board shows the ways the class found.
Numbers 1 to 9, no dividing needed, several ways to get there.
No class? Play 24 solo against the clock and the leaderboard.
How to play
- Four numbers appear on the board and on every screen at once.
- Tap a number, an operator, then another number: the two merge into their result.
- Three merges leave one card. If it is 24, you are in.
- 100 points for a 24, up to 100 more for speed, 50 for the first in the class.
- The board shows the class's solutions after each round, and one of the engine's if nobody got it.
The maths on the board
Students chase 24 through its factor pairs (3 ร 8, 4 ร 6, 2 ร 12) and its neighbours (25 โ 1, 20 + 4), which is order of operations and number sense in one habit. Easy puzzles never need division; hard ones sometimes pass through a fraction, like 8 รท (3 โ 8 รท 3), which the board keeps exact rather than rounding.
